James won long distance events including Challenge Roth, Ironman Hamburg, Ironman 70.3 Panama City, Embrunman, Ironman France-Nice and the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon. He finished fourth and fifth at the Ironman World Championship in 2013 and 2017.
